Rex Maynard, President – USTA Southern Section

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU....on another outstanding USTA Southern League Championships.  Your planning, hard work, determination, persistence and implementation paid off for a tremendous event in Birmingham.  You have made the USTA Southern Section, the City of Birmingham, the state of Alabama  and me proud.  I sure hope you're proud!!!!  You even made me look good, which is often difficult to do (except on the dance floor!).

The Adult League Championships is our premier event each year for our largest program, adult leagues.  It is important that the quality of the event reflects the quality of the program, and you have exceeded our expectations.  I am pleased I was able to be there and witness it first hand the past two years.

Not only did you provide a great event for two years running, but you have left a wonderful legacy with the public facilities in Birmingham.  The reworking of several of your city parks will produce benefits far beyond tennis for many years to come.

Your efforts are a perfect example of my slogan to WORK HARD...GROW TENNIS...HAVE FUN...FINISH STRONG!  You've done every one, and your efforts produced results.  Birmingham tennis is on a roll, and we'll look for many more great things with your help in the years ahead.  Thanks again for all you did and will continue to do to "Grow and Develop the Game of Tennis!"  See you on the courts (and maybe the dance floor).

 WORK HARD...GROW TENNIS...HAVE FUN...FINISH STRONG!!!

Holly Goddard, Southern Section - Director of Adult Tennis

It was great working with you. I know our players enjoyed your services. Thanks for being a part of Sectionals.

We had an excellent experience again. Your team did a wonderful job. We heard many nice compliments on the facilities and especially the player party!!

John Callen, Executive Director - Southern Section

Rudy please allow me to ditto Rex and Holly’s comments.  It could not have happened without your tireless efforts to continue to pull the city of Birmingham together and make this the best sectionals ever.  Please congratulate your team, it was a Home Run!

Bonnie Vandegrift, Chairman - Southern Section Adult Leagues Committee

I heard nothing, but wonderful things about the event this year and am so sorry that I was not able to be there. I am sure Holly told you that I tore my ACL playing tennis and had to have knee surgery just prior to Sectionals.

I really do appreciate all that you and your team did to make our championship such a hugh success. This was a win, win situation for us and the city of Birmingham and the work that has been done will have a significant and lasting impact on tennis in the city.
